Proof that you sometimes have to travel halfway around the world to find what’s just under your nose. Since those first sparks flew at a cafe in Tokyo, Japan, Georgia-based photographers Phillip and Eileen Blume have been lighting up the photography world with their acclaimed blend of honest photojournalism and fine art imagery. In the three years since Blume Photography’s opening, Phillip and Eileen’s work has been published by many highly respected outlets, including The Knot magazine and the Oprah Winfrey Network. Their portrait and destination photography spans the globe from Central America to Europe, and has been featured in professional photographers’ forums internationally.
“The public’s attention to our art has been amazing — and completely unexpected,” says Phillip. “But the most rewarding part of our work is, without a doubt, the relationships we’ve formed with all our newlywed couples. It’s just an honor to create something so intimate and lasting with them. When we’re developing these images in the studio, there’s a real sense that we’re seeing a crucial part of this new family’s history for the first time.”
Traveling for much of their work, Phillip and Eileen say Athens, GA will always be their ideal place to come home to. “It’s got a great art scene, the Bulldogs, big city amenities, and a small town feel where we can raise our daughter. And it’s such a brilliantly eclectic place for photography, too.”
Stop by Blume Photography’s booth this Sunday to meet Phillip and Eileen, peruse their work, and enter to win an art book custom-designed by Eileen Blume, along with other giveaways.
